The Mercedes-Benz GLE is a luxury SUV that blends style, comfort, and powerful performance, making it a popular choice in India’s high-end SUV market. Initially introduced in India in 2015 as a replacement for the M-Class, the GLE has since seen various upgrades, most notably with facelifts and new engine options.

In 2023, Mercedes launched a significant facelift for the GLE, offering it in the Long Wheelbase (LWB) version. This latest model is available in three variants: the GLE 300d, powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine; the GLE 450 with a 3.0-liter petrol engine; and the GLE 450d, a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel. Each of these engines is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, which provides additional power and efficiency. The GLE 450, for example, produces around 375 bhp and achieves a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 5.6 seconds, thanks to its robust output and nine-speed automatic transmission.

The 2024 facelift includes design updates, like a new front grille and LED headlights. Inside, the GLE features an upgraded MBUX infotainment system with dual 12.3-inch displays, a multifunction steering wheel, and premium elements inspired by Mercedes’ higher-end Maybach models. Exclusive features in higher trims include a Burmester surround sound system, air suspension, four-zone climate control, and various safety features like multiple airbags and active driver-assistance systems.

This model faces competition from other luxury SUVs, such as the BMW X5 and Audi Q7, all of which offer competitive pricing in the same range. The Mercedes GLE’s combination of advanced technology, comfort, and powerful engine options ensures its continued appeal in the luxury SUV segment.
